A government regulatory body instructed mobile network operators to block public internet access starting at 6pm (15:00 GMT) on Tuesday.
Uganda: UCC Defends Internet Cut Days Before Presidential Election

The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has defended the internet shutdown as necessary to “curb “misinformation, disinformation, electoral fraud and related risks.”
In addition to cutting off the internet, the government has, on Tuesday ordered two local rights groups that have been critical of authorities namely; Chapter Four Uganda and Human Rights Network for Journalists-Uganda, to halt their work with immediate effect.
The coming election will see Museveni, Wine, and six other candidates run for president in the East African nation of roughly 45 million people. The Electoral authorities say there are 21.6 million registered voters in Uganda.
Meanwhile, Bobi Wine has urged the youth to make sure they cast their votes to remove the ‘dictator’ from power.
